Twin children of Leda, Castor was the mortal son of Tyndareus and Pollux the immortal son of Zeus, who raped Leda in the guise of a swan. Castor met his death at the end of a spear after being ambushed in a tree. Pollux held his dying brother and begged Zeus for the chance to share his immortality. The two live on as the brightest stars in the Gemini constellation.
